Project Baseline and MEL
Scientific Research
Activities
- Research for program baselines and monitoring, evaluation, and learning needs.
- Collaborative research with universities and other institutions, led and funded by AKI.
Outputs
Reports, scientific publications, datasets, photographic documentation, and other related products generated through programs implemented, led, or funded by AKI.
Outcomes
Programs led and implemented by AKI can be measured, monitored, and evaluated using science-based approaches. The data generated can also contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and conservation management.
Partnership Support
Partnership Support and Program Implementation
Activities
- Field implementation for government social forestry programs.
- Environmental assessments and consulting services.
- Collaborative research to support partner programs.
- Development of partner project designs to make them more systematic, structured, and accessible.
Outputs
Partnerships in project management, program implementation, consulting services, and document-based products such as project reports, working papers, policy briefs, assessment reports, and research publications according to partner needs.
Outcomes
Indirect contributions toward the sustainability goals of clients and partners through technical support in their project areas.
Nature Conservation Management
Multi-Approach Nature Conservation Management
Activities
- Conservation policy approaches.
- Landscape conservation models.
- Species conservation models.
- Development of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in ways that align with nature protection and customary law.
- Community-based carbon credit and biodiversity credit projects.
Outputs
Implementation and development of Nature Conservation Management projects within defined timeframes and allocated funding.
Outcomes
Nature is conserved and protected while improving the livelihoods of Indigenous Peoples and local communities living within and around project areas.
IPLCs Livelihood Thriving
Sustainable Tourism
Activities
- Ecotourism travel packages.
- Capacity building for Indigenous Peoples and local communities in managing ecotourism.
- Carbon footprint measurement and carbon-neutral compensation.
Outputs
Comprehensive and facilitated ecotourism packages supported by trained local guides as needed and integrated with a carbon-neutral scheme.
Outcomes
Contributions generated through travel activities are allocated to carbon-offsetting projects that may be implemented by other developers or by AKI itself.
IPLCs Livelihood Thriving
Sustainable Agroforestry
Activities
- Supporting Indigenous Peoples and local communities in applying sustainable agroforestry methods for coffee and cocoa.
- Helping local farmers obtain sustainability certification.
- Providing agroforestry training to improve product quantity and quality.
- Developing circular economy models to support the sale of community products.
- Expanding product access to broader markets in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia.
Outputs
Agroforestry products such as coffee, cocoa, and other commodities with sustainability certification under the ARKA brand, supported by circular economy models that strengthen local livelihoods.
Outcomes
Agroforestry and non-timber forest products directly improve local livelihoods without degrading the surrounding environment, allowing nature to remain protected while local economies grow.
